Lou Si Philipp began his Wing Chun training in 2001 at a satellite school of Master Ron Heimbergers in Las Vegas; the school was run by Philipp's older Sister and Brother Frieda and Scott Woods.
Lou Si Philipp experienced some loss of feeling and mobility in 2019. Continuing his training a few months thereafter, a combination of Wing Chun and TCM resolved the issue in less than a year. Philipp continued instructing during recovery.
In 2021 Lou Si Philipp met Grandmaster Samuel Kwok, and became his student in 2023.
Grandmaster Samuel Kwok has been teaching and promoting Wing Chun for 50 years. Kwok is successor to Ip Chun and Ip Ching, Ip Man's sons.
He is founder of the SKWCMAA (Samuel Kwok Wing Chun Martial Art Association), one of the largest Wing Chun Associations with members in 35 countries.
GM Kwok is a multiple award winning martial artist, teacher and author that has been inducted into various Martial Arts Halls of Honour and Fame. Some of GM Kwok's better known students include martial arts actors like Simon Kook(Ip Man 3) and Cynthia Rothrock(Various US & HK).
He has trained World Champion fighters like Paddy Monaghan and Quentin Chong. GM Kwok was a consultant on Ip Man 1 for Wing Chun fight choreography. He has held joint seminars with masters from other styles, such as Carlson Gracie of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
